Harmony Gifted & Talented Education


In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students, Harmony Public Schools will begin taking referrals for all interested students in grades K-12 for gifted and talented screening.

Anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment. Students in grades 2 & up who were tested in the Fall 2018 are not eligible to test in Spring 2019. Referral forms are available at the front office and on the school’s web site.

The referral forms must be returned to the front office by Friday, February 8, 2019.

The 2019 Spring GT testing window is February 11, 2019 – March 29, 2019.

Harmony Public Schools joins the country in mourning the loss of President George H.W. Bush, a leader known as the “education president” for his tireless devotion to America’s schoolchildren.

A statewide Day of Mourning has been declared by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, to allow Texans to pay their respects to President Bush. All Harmony Public School campuses will remain open and operating on their regular schedule on this date.

Our campus will be collecting canned foods and non-perishable food items. All items collected to a local shelter. We appreciate your support during this holiday season!

Open Enrollment 2018 - 2019 begins Thursday November 1st, 2018

The open enrollment period for new Harmony Public Schools students is approaching fast.

Open Enrollment for campuses statewide begins Nov. 1 and continues through Feb. 10 for students wishing to enroll for the Fall 2019 semester.

What comes with a Harmony Public Schools education?

The Harmony Public Schools system is frequently recognized as one of the best school systems in Texas for its well-rounded curriculum with a special emphasis on STEM education.

In the event the number of qualified applicants exceeds the maximum enrollment at any campus, a lottery is held at the end of February to fairly fill the available openings.

We will have parent/teacher conferences on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 3-6:00 p.m. We ask that you please contact our front office at 956-574-9555 to set up your appointments with your child’s teachers. Harmony families, our family picnic has been rescheduled for this upcoming Saturday. This will take place rain or shine.  We welcome and encourage each family to bring their own picnic food for  thier family. We will be giving away some food items such as tostadas, aguas frescas, tamarindo candy, watermelon, oranges and other items. (until quantities run out).

We are closely monitoring the weather and if inclement weather approaches and feel that it will be a threat to the safety our students, teachers and staff, there might be a possibility of a school start delay or closure. We are excited about the upcoming 2018 – 2019 school year we are busy planning and preparing everything for our students. We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some important information.

Our front office will open August 1st at 8:00 a.m. to answer any of your questions or concerns.

We will begin selling uniforms beginning August 9th during our student orientations. Prices will be as follows:

Short Sleeves Shirts:
• 1- 2 Shirts per family: $15 each with Tax $13.86 w/out tax
• 3- 5 Shirts per family: $12 each with Tax $11.09 w/out tax
• 6 + Shirts per family: $10 each with Tax $9.24 w/out tax
Long Sleeves Shirts: (add $2 each to the prices of the short sleeves shirts)
Uniform Jacket: $20

Orientations will be Thursday, August 9 or Friday, August 10

Elementary: Thursday, August 9th from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 or 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

*If you have children in multiple grade levels you only need to come to one orientation.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We have created a Summer Learning Packet for each grade level. Your child’s current grade level teachers have created summer packets. The tasks are designed to support upcoming learning.

Students should not try to complete the packet in one day.  Instead, students should work through the packet in small sessions over the period of the summer. We are asking each student to complete the tasks to the best of his/her ability over the summer months. Completed packets are due the first day of school.

Enjoy a fantastic summer and come well prepared to work hard and learn many new exciting ideas.

Dear students and parents,
In our math classes in 8th grade math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebraic Reasoning, Algebra 2, Precalculus, SAT Math, TSI Math Lab, Calculus, College Prep Math, Statistics and Risk Management and other elective high school math courses, we use TI Nspire CX calculators. We provide these calculators to our students during school hours and we exclusively recommend that the students also purchase one for their out of school use. Below is a picture of how these calculators look.
HSA Awards Ceremonies will be held the week of May 21-May 24, 2018.  All students will be receiving an award.  Students are to wear Sunday’s best attire.  Please contact the front office if you have any questions.

We are excited to announce that Tuesday, May 8th will be jersey day! Students may wear their favorite jersey with jeans at no cost, following all dress code guidelines. We will have motivational speaker Keith Davis present with us on this day to help motivate our 3rd-8th grade students in preparation to the upcoming STAAR test.
